Meg McCormick, MFA has designed the lighting for over 150+ stage productions in Utah, Nevada, California, Texas, and Pennsylvania since she began her lighting design career in El Paso, Texas in 1979. She completed her MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Utah in 1984. During her training she also completed two years of study and training in photography in the University of Utah Art Department.
During the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s she served as the resident lighting designer for the Salt Lake Acting Company, Promised Valley Playhouse, Utah Musical Theatre and the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada. She has also designed lighting for productions at Pygmalion Theatre Company, Plan-B Theatre Company, Egyptian Theatre in Park City, University of Utah Children’s Theatre, Babcock Theatre, Pioneer Theatre Company, The Grand Theatre, Zivio Dance Company, University of Utah Opera Company, University Players in El Paso Texas, Thin Air Productions in California, and Theatre rEvolution in Philadelphia.
Meg was one of two featured artists for an exhibit of her photography/digital art entitled Signs and Wonders: West by Southwest at the Loge Gallery at the Pioneer Memorial Theatre at the University of Utah in February of 2023. During the summer and fall of 2023 she began a new chapter as an Art Fair artist, and was invited to exhibit her photography at several art fairs/festivals in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Texas, and Arizona. A recent transplant to the Twin Cities area, she now spends her time exploring her new Midwest home, creating digital/photographic art, and enjoying time with her family and friends. In the winter she meanders south to her home in Tucson, Arizona.
